Read this before you connect anything

Wevival controls physical electrical equipment in your home. When it works, a plug turns on or off. When it doesn’t work, a plug stays on when you wanted it off, or stays off when you wanted it on.

That difference is not a software inconvenience. Depending on what is plugged in, it can mean a fire, a flood, spoiled food, a dead pet, a frozen pipe, or a burst pipe.

Wevival is a free service, built and given away by one person. It is not a safety system, it is not certified by anyone, it has no guaranteed uptime, and it comes with no warranty of any kind. Use it at your own risk.

Do not use Wevival for anything where failure causes harm

Do not connect Wevival to equipment where a missed, delayed, or unexpected command could injure a person, harm an animal, or damage property.

That includes, but is not limited to:

If you plug one of these into a Wevival-controlled plug anyway, that is your decision and your risk. Do not rely on this service to protect anything you cannot afford to lose.

Always keep an independent fail-safe

If you control anything that matters, it must have protection that does not depend on Wevival, on your phone, on your Wi-Fi, or on the internet.

That means a mechanical float switch on the pump, a thermostat with its own high-limit cutoff on the heater, a water alarm on the floor, a temperature alarm in the freezer. Something physical, something local, something that works when everything else is dark.

Wevival should never be the only thing standing between you and a loss.

This applies whether or not you have an account

Wevival can be used two ways: local-only, controlling plugs directly on your home Wi-Fi with no account, or connected, with an account that adds remote control, sharing, and away-from-home schedules.

Everything on this page applies to both. A plug that fails to switch is exactly as dangerous whether the command came from our server or from the phone in your hand. The prohibited-equipment list and the fail-safe requirement do not change.

Two risks below are specific to connected mode and are marked as such.

The specific ways this can fail

You should understand these before you trust it with anything.

Your bridge phone is a single point of failure. (Connected mode.) Wevival works by relaying commands through an Android phone on your home Wi-Fi. If that phone is off, asleep, out of battery, off the network, updating, or has had the app killed by Android’s battery optimizer, your commands do not reach your plugs. You may not be told this is happening.

Commands do not expire — they wait. (Connected mode.) Wevival stores the last state you asked for and delivers it whenever the bridge phone comes back online. This is deliberate. It is what makes the service useful. But it also means a command you issued hours or days ago can execute the moment connectivity returns, at a time you are not expecting it and may not be home. If you switch something off, walk away, and connectivity is restored at 3:00 a.m., that is when it happens.

Schedules are best-effort, not guaranteed. A scheduled action may run late, may run early, or may not run at all. Do not treat a schedule as an appointment that will be kept.

Your network is not under our control. Your router, your Wi-Fi, your internet provider, your power, and the plugs themselves can all fail independently of us.

Our own maintenance creates gaps too. (Connected mode.) When we update our servers, your bridge phone’s connection drops for a few seconds and reconnects on its own. A command you issue in that window is stored and delivered when it reconnects, not lost — but delivered late is still not delivered on time, and we do not announce these in advance.

Declining updates leaves you on a version we may already know is broken. When a newer release exists, Wevival downloads it and Android asks whether to install it. If you decline, you keep whatever you have — including a build with a defect we have already fixed, while it goes on controlling electrical equipment in your home.

And right now you cannot tell which update is which. Android’s install screen reads the same for every release, so a fix for a defect that could mis-fire your space heater looks exactly like a cosmetic tweak. We intend to change that so we can tell you when a release matters. Until we do, please treat every update as though it does.

The plugs are discontinued hardware. These devices lost manufacturer support on January 31, 2026. They receive no firmware updates, no security patches, and no support from anyone. They are old, and they will fail eventually.

We may stop at any time. Wevival is free and unfunded. It may change, break, or shut down permanently at any time, without notice and without any obligation to you.

No warranty

Wevival is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, or non-infringement.

We do not promise the service will work, that it will keep working, that it will work on time, or that it will work with your particular hardware.

Limitation of liability

Each paragraph below stands on its own. If a court finds one unenforceable, the others remain in force.

Ordinary negligence. To the fullest extent permitted by law, IHS Web Design LLC (doing business as Teagles Consulting), Team Palani LLC, and their owners, officers, members, contractors, and assigns are not liable for loss or damage arising out of or related to Wevival that results from ordinary negligence.

What we do not attempt to disclaim. We do not disclaim, exclude, or limit liability for gross negligence, recklessness, willful misconduct, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indirect and consequential damages. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or business interruption, even if we were advised of the possibility.

Property damage. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for property damage of any kind — including water damage, fire damage, damage to or loss of equipment, and spoiled food or medication — is limited to one hundred United States dollars (US $100.00).

Personal injury. Some jurisdictions do not permit any limitation of liability for personal injury or death. Where that is the law, this paragraph does not apply and we do not seek to limit that liability. Where a limitation is permitted, our liability for personal injury is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

Savings. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. In those jurisdictions, the above applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law, and each provision is to be reformed to the greatest extent enforceable rather than struck entirely. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited.
